I am into the 2nd story in this collection of short stories written by Kathy Reichs. The author is a forensic anthropologist, and she uses her working experience to write thrillers. The second story, Swamp Bones, is a funny one. The following speech by a frustrated law enforcement officer summed up the gist: "Sweet lord on a bicycle. I've got a sawed-off foot that was eaten by a bird that was eaten by a snake, and no clue where the crime went down or who the vic is."

I've read a few of Kathy Reichs' books and they are quite good. I definitely enjoyed them.

She could have created a more rational Tempe. As a scientist that requires her to keep cool, Tempe seems too childish and too impatient.

@scheng1 That's true. Some times, she can definitely be impatient. I guess anyone can be impatient.

@dodo19 Impatience is one thing, doing stupid thing is another. I think if in real life, a law enforcement officer goes single-handed to a suspect house, he or she will end up as a corpse!

I read some Kathy Reichs thrillers many years ago but then forgot about her. May look into her oeuvre again.

She has written a lot more books. I like the recent release, especially those books that feature the internet-surfing ability of the mother of Tempe. Her mother is quite an interesting character.

Yes, it is an amazing book, more so because our life is so boring that we can never experience such adventures.

I read the first one while living in Chicago and it was an awesome book. Now, I think that I will see if the library has book #2! I can still remember going through the swamp in the little boat!

Fortunately we are not the ones who go there to see the snakes and alligators. I sure hope that they can find a way to deal with the growing snake population. Perhaps snake leather can become the main export of Florida to the whole world. It sure makes sense to provide incentive for people to hunt snakes, and to curb the population. Otherwise the snakes will find their way to the homes of the residents.

I've never read any of her books, but wanted to pick one up. I watched the Bones series that's based on her books and loved it! I haven't watched it from the very beginning though, and wonder how I can watch all those beginning seasons that I missed.

I especially like her acknowledgement page after finishing the books. She will share about the real cases that inspired her to write the books. I think that is the most important part, because it shows that the real impact of the scientists on the life of the victims and their families and the greater society issues.

I do not watch TV. I read books. I do not think this TV series is available in our local TV channels.
