Is the death penalty effective

Im really impressed with this site.... i'm finding it really enjoyable, I love to discuss interesting subjects but ive never had someone to discuss them with... now i have all of you! yay! am I dreaming or something?
Im currently at work on my lunch break and was reading this online artical about the death penalty and peoples views on whether they feel it is an effective punishment, lots of people were agreeing and saying yes, as they feel the punishment is that they are rid from out world preventing more crime and bad situations but my honest opinion..... no, it isn't effective - I see it as the easy way out....
Am I being mean? or do others feel this way too?...

I guess you must be one of these people that think prison is hard.
Think again, because it isn't.
Some people don't deserve to continue to live. They will still be breathing and eating and dreaming and fantasizing in prison.
One thing they won't be doing is feeling remorse.
Off with their damned heads.
Bring back the guillotine and public executions.

@JolietJake haha it's a fact, maybe your one of the people who don't feel remorse then - I was staying two sides of one story, I didn't say you were wrong, I said I agree & I have this opinion also

So are you trying to suggest that every person who goes to prison just has the luxury of continuing to fantasise and eat and drink and sleep? Some people do feel remorse, some people commit a crime and cannot live with themselves.... prison will make them suffer emotionally.
Prison can be real tough for some.... especially real bad criminals
But you are right too, some people are just a pure waste of space and they deserve to be rid of the earth... I can see both points of view, the subject just sickens me!

There's always pros and cons in that issue of capital punishment is all I can say.

Hmmm yes for sure, I just feel like that is no punishment... they are not living to learn from their mistakes? Nor to make up for them....

Great way of putting it, It just makes me sad that killers, for example, can kill innocent others and just get the punishment of their own life being taken too.. i dont feel like that gives them the chance to feel remorse like they should! But, yes - I suppose they are rid from our society!
