It is so touching to read of children donating their kidneys to save their mothers. I guess there is no greater gift than this.

It seems it is common that parents will donate their organs to their children without hesitation. On the contrary, it seems it is rare that the children will do the same back. I am glad that this son loves her mom so much

@scheng1 It is hard to judge it. In fact parents may not willing to see their children donate organs to them because they also care about their children's health more than themselves. I just hope people who are willing to donate their organs after they die. This is the best.

@youless The fear is that after the children donate the kidney, and transplant to their parent, the immunity system of the parent rejects the kidney. That will be a complete waste because the kidney gets rejected.

Young children will not hesitate because they sincerely want their parents to see them grow up, and young children do not realize the impact of having only one kidney. Adults are different. Many of them will worry about their own health, and they rather let their parents continue suffering.

True, many successful adults who are rich do not even want to share their wealth with their parents. They probably want their parents to get out of their lives.

@scheng1 that's not the case for the rich only. Let me tell you about this incident in my country. There was a guy who killed my mom and cut off her thumb and put it in the refrigerator. In fact the mom was bedridden and had given authorisation for her son to go and fetch her pension. But the son wanted to have all the money for himself and thus killed the mom and used the thumb as proof of the mom's signature. He buried the body in his yard only

@Nawsheen that reminds me of the Buddhism teaching about parents and children. The teaching mentions that a karmic action must have taken place in the past for parents to have children. Karmic actions can be due to 4 factors. The first is that the child comes to repay debt. The second is to claim back a debt. The third is to take revenge. The last is to repay kindness. I think in the case you mention, the Buddhist will classify it as that of the child seeks revenge against the parents.

Yes, that is indeed a very touching story. I hope the son can get a good wife, and have many kids who are well-mannered, and kind too. That will be the best reward for him.
