Surprised to see the first and only flower on my lilac Lights Azalea(Rhododendron x 'Lilac Lights') since I planted it years ago. I guess it is because we had a milder than usual winter. I notice it is cold hardy to zone 4 and I am in zone 3 probably why it never blossomed until now. Anyway it is a very nice surprise and I hope to see more flowers. Almost reminds me of an orchid.
This weekend will be a long holiday weekend - Victoria Day, and it is the official beginning of the planting season here. Presumably all danger of frost is gone by then but that doesn't always hold true. When does your garden, planting season start?

Yes even though there is always the temptation to plant earlier

I got the answer to my question I posed in my post. I had asked what had bloomed in the gardens.
Pretty flower

I am hoping for many more flowers but it is a wait and see.
