Sorry, my phone lost its memory

Just last month,my long-time friend moved to another town and so we kept everything to a low profile maybe due to distance.But just last week,I texted him to share some good news with him.He texted me back and asked who I was because his phone had lost its memory thus he lost all his contacts. It was a shocker to me because I knew he kept a back-up of all his contacts in a small note book.Since it was late at night and that's why texting was the most convenient,I decided to call him to introduce myself. He immediately recognized my voice and was sorry that malfunctioning of his phone made him loose all his contacts and had also misplaced his backup notebook.
