Robin Nest

I had an opportunity to get a photo of this robin's nest and eggs earlier today. Before anyone asks, I took great care not to disturb the nest. I kept a reasonable distance from it and even checked on the nest a little while later to make sure the mother robin returned to it. I'm happy to report she did and I can see her sitting on the next as I post this.

According to an article I read about a year ago (I believe it was in Forbes), it may have something to do with protecting the baby birds from sun exposure. But, I think that was pretty much a guess.

@srhelmer Yeah it is curious..I bet hunter birds of prey can see them from a long way off.

I always thought the bright blue eggs made very little sense nature-wise. You would think they would be brown or some similar color to make them harder for predators to spot.
