In fact until today I just learned one of the best super computer Tianhe-2 locates in my city. Today we had a visted there. Now I have a question. Since a normal computer can create bitcoins, then super computer shall create a lot of bitcoins in a short time. Will they do so or they only focus on doing something that good for human beings?

Super computer usually were used in technology ,military ,business and academic. As they are short in number , I don't think it would be used in creat bitcoins.

It is my joking to use it to make bitcoins. Of course it can create bitcoins, but it is not worth to the cost. I heard the water and electricity will cost about 70,000,000 yuan per year. In our country there are six locations for the super computers. Besides Guangzhou, it is also available in Shenzhen, Tianjin, Jinan, Changsha and perhaps Chongqing. I am not sure about the last one.

Computers will not cater to human beings, they will eventually do as they please I think Youless.

Why do some of the doors have blue and some have red lights running along them? There is a lot of free space in the room where the computer is, are they planning to expand, adding more compute power or storage capacity? Is this in a basement part of the building? Not many people about on your tour of the Supercomputer.

This is a very huge room and what you saw is just a little part of it. I think it needs more space for many reasons, such as the heating, fire accidents, repairment etc. This is not a basement, it is a building. I heard that they would have another floor for the storage later soon.

@youless That is very interesting, thank you for sharing the info and photos from your visit. I can see what looks like a nozzle from a gaseous fire protection system sticking down from the ceiling on one of the photos.

I've no idea what it's purpose is as I've never heard of these before. Didn't it show somewhere what they are being used for?

@youless I'm not that interested that I'll bother with that link, but you may want to include it on your post for those that have more time to look it up.
