Saving for My First Car!

After a big disaster in trying to get home after plans fell through with my friend I have decided I am fed up with having to depend on others to get around. It lit a fire under my butt to get my license. i plan on scheduling my drivers test for next Wednesday and I will be driving around the area and practicing my two point turn this week in order to help ensure that I can pass the test. I will keep taking it until I pass and hopefully I won't cry each time i fail though I plan to think positive and try to control my anxiety. I think if I know the area better learn the signs and where the different speed limits are then I have a much better chance of passing. I also have to work on making sure I don't go even one mile over the speed limit. I believe in myself I can do this!
I am going to save up to buy a used car and then I will be closer to being able to go where I want when I want. I just imagine taking my son to the parks and places without having to ask anyone to take us and it makes me happy not having to be stuck here at the house. Driving myself to and from work. Also going out with friends too though I only have the one. Either way I am looking forward to getting my license and getting myself a car.
What did you do to prepare for your drivers test? When did you get your first car? What was your first car? Any advice on buying a car?

It's been over a decade since I had my drivers license test, and to be honest, I thought I was going to fail. The instructor told me to go right and I went left.
I just remained calm and greeted the person riding with me nicely. I got my car when I had a permit, it was a hand me down and a few years later, I bought a new car.
My advice would be to get the used car mechanically checked as you dont want to spend more money if something is wrong with it.

@IvySaysHi I know how different it is in the United States, you do not even have good local public transport.

I did prepare well for the drivers test, it's an online exam. I don't have a car. My parents have.

Good luck I hope
you pass the test!
Try to get as much practice as possible
especially if you can drive around the
area you will drive in for the test!
As for buying a car if you don't know
much about cars take someone with
you who does! It's too easy to be
distracted by a shiny exterior hiding
a ton of things that need fixed
underneath!
