Okay, I have 4 days to get caught up with this, but I ain't gonna do it today, I'll just pick up where I left off for now. Today's album was the last recorded before the infamous plane crash in 1977, three days after the album was released, that killed lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, and his sister backing vocalist Cassie Gaines. The album was pulled from shelves after the crash and re-released with a different front cover photo sans the flames and burning buildings. Lynryd Skynyrd - Street Survivors

It is kind of an eerie cover. They should have left it alone, though. Joy Division's album, Closer, has a crypt on the cover. It was released after Ian Curtis hung himself, but they decided to keep it as is.

Is this album collectible or rare as it's the original cover?

It's somewhat collectible but it was a couple months before they decided to change it so there are lots out there

I have to say, though, "whiskey bottle, brand new car, oak tree, you're in my way" is a great opening line.

Then there was "That Smell" as the second song on the album, and that line "you won't find me in an old folks' home" in "You Got That Right."

So were just the flames added? I wonder how many people have a copy of the One day released album which must be worth a fortune now
