Holiday Weekend Noise...

It's a holiday weekend in the UK so everyone has an extra day off work on Monday. Every time there is a long weekend like this people start preparing for having fun on the Friday afternoon and everything is really busy and loud. My neighbours are all having barbecues or doing jobs in the garden because it is sunny. However it really annoys me when they play music so loudly in their gardens. It feels like a bit of a violation and I wonder what it would sound like if every person in the neighbourhood did the same thing! Right now I've got rock music on one side and pop music from the garden opposite. I would actually love some peace!

If it won't put a big dent in my finances, on weekends like those I would escape to a quiet , sunny retreat.

That's a problem ...Especially if the music doesn't synchronize. But the long weekend sounds fun

I think I'll just have to try and ignore the pulsing beats I'm hearing!

It's not always pleasant when there is loud music and such. Hopefully it doesn't get too much for you.

Thanks, just as I'm writing this the skies have gone a bit cloudy and all of the music has been turned off so maybe I will get five minutes of quiet (although it might rain too!).

Are they allowed to play loud music? I can understand how annoying this can be.

Unfortunately they can. I don't know why they don't just use headphones or put the radio inside instead of blasting it into the garden though.

@redurnet we use to have neighbors that did the same thing only they were from another country and the music was loud and we could not understand it. I love hearing loud music if I know it and can sing along with it.

Such is the hazards of not being able to afford to live in luxury in a mansion in the countryside. Sad really the way people are crammed together like that..same here mate. Lots of ignorant people not caring who they bother with noise..good luck happy bank holiday. Over here it is the long weekend for Memorial Day so same thing ugh.

@redurnet Yes I wouldn't mind a hut as long as it was mine and away from nutters.

Don't you have any noise control officer in your place?

No, we don't. I think you can complain about noise to the local police but the noise has to be really, really loud and played at unreasonable hours.

So everyone is in happy weekend mood, but the noise is irritating. I can understand. Why don't they think of peaceful weekend.

Yes, I guess some people just love music too much and maybe don't think it is an issue for their neighbours.

And it always happens when you want just a peace... If you want listen a music, you would listen your own, not from neighbors. It is amazing how people do not think about those who live in the neighborhood.

Yes, unfortunately we just had another really hot weekend over here and one neighbour opened up every window and door and pumped out very loud dance music from 9am till 10pm. It sounds like a constant thudding as you can hear the bass but not the melody. Awful.

It is like the scenario here. If there is a long weekend because of holiday people are excited to go to a vacation.

Omg, just imagining it makes me feel annoying. Try to talk to them to put the music a little low. Or headphones, that's all I recommend to you. Good luck

Thanks, I am always a bit scared of approaching neighbours about things like this as I worry they will just turn around and furnish me with expletives!

@redurnet Hahaha it's normal, I'm scared too, but if you're not comfortable the you need to tell them

I feel for you :( but i hope the very impressive storms we had last night have made everything really wet so they cant continue their music abuse outside. You on the other hand should take that opportunity and put on some classical music to soothe everyones hangovers ?? x
