Bee in a hollyhock

Finally I have Hollyhocks once more. The other day I was out and about when the winds had died down some and caught a very happy little bee wrapped around the inner thingy gathering pollen or nectar or what ever it is they gather. The little lady was happily buzzing around all the blossoms. Most of the bees we see buzzing around flowers are female. I'm just plain tickled pink that the wabbits haven't been eatin my hollyhocks this year WOOOOWHOOOO Are you excited about things happening in your garden?

@rebelann Yes I once had a yard and a bit of a garden, sadly it was not meant to be for me.

Lucky for me Hollyhocks seem to be resilient to the heat @DianneN well, a little at least. It's those wabbits I'm concerned with

Years ago when we lived in Sevierville the lady across the road had hollyhocks and I loved them. I asked her for seeds and she gave me a bunch...I planted them at the next house we moved to and some of them grew 10 feet high! Oh the seeds came from Dolly Parton's aunt...small world.

I think I have one that is already that tall, it's blossom are red but I haven't taken any shots of them yet. Isn't she from the Tennessee area? It's amazing how often we come across people related to famous people.

@rebelann Dolly is from Sevier County and half of the county are her relatives. When we lived there we were close enough that we could hear her train whistle.

I hope you haven't spoken too soon about those wabbits. Yes the males bees (drones) are lazy gits and don't do any work.

I love hollyhocks! Grandma had them and we would pick the blossoms sometimes and use toothpicks to make dolls out of them. Unfortunately, I have no garden now since I live in Arizona. The sun kills everything. I used to have a garden in Ohio but moved here for my granddaughter. It's an awful place that is as hostile to human life as the moon is, I don't understand why people choose to live here.

I'm not far from AZ, I'm in far west TX and yep it's harsh and anyone who hasn't been here for very long will have a hard time with the drought although I think many would agree that dry heat is much better than muggy heat. I've lived here 57 years so I'm used to the harsh heat of our long summers.
