Husband is not as good at Maths as he likes to think he is. I know this because we had some topsoil delivered this morning, three bags of the stuff, which was equal to two tonnes. You would think that that would be enough to fill in the old pond. You would think wrong. We thought there would be some left over, but having levelled it out I'm now looking at it and thinking we need at least another two bags. Honestly, how big was this pond and how did Husband get his measurements so wrong? I did get to marvel at the animals which seem to love my garden. There was a giant spider. See him in the photo. He was HUGE! Honestly, he was. I think my camera tells fibs. I met a frog. He jumped. I jumped. He hopped under the decking. A rather large slug waved his little antenna at me. I'm afraid I simply ignored him. And then there were the woodlice. Thousands and thousands of them, scattering this way and that when I picked up their shelters. Woodlice, interrupted. I do like a tidy garden.

Oh goodness the frogs always scare me. They have the habit to jump out of nowhere. I have met a very small and cute salamander this morning. It was near the pond, I think they need water. I would like to fill our pond with topsoil, but I feel bad for the frogs and the salamanders.

I mentioned the frog to Husband and he asked if I meant a toad. I don't know the difference. I wouldn't know a salamander if it bit me on the bottom!

@Poppylicious Salamanders are not dangerous, frogs can even be cute, toads are bigger and ugly. Here is a photo of the salamander I saw in the garden.

When butterfly season starts I should charge money and let people come and stare in wonder. There are bees out the front, enjoying the lavender. :)

Wildlife, wild by definition. Slugs notwithstanding.

I wonder if a slug can be domesticated.

I'm terrified of spiders. I don't mind the other critters.
