The fifth month draws to a close. I was due to be paid my welfare at the stroke of midnight introducing the day and checked my account right afterwards only to find no change. The bank has been known to be slow to process it before, often as late as 2am, and I was so worried that it might not have come through that I checked it just after 2 AM, only to see a message saying the bank had closed for maintenance until 2.40 am as it expected little traffic at such a time. I checked again at 2.45 am, and my money has been paid in. Finally I could relax. I got up about 8.30 am and did some online writing. About 11.30 am, I set out to the job club via a new supermarket that opened for the first time this morning. I wasn’t going to shop there but I hoped to use its new cashpoint to get money out for a weekly bus ticket. Unfortunately the cash machine was out of order, on it very first day of service. I had to walk a long way down the road to another one, though fortunately the weather was nice. I was then able to get my bus ticket for the week. The job club was relaxed and staff kindly gave us packets of cookies and croissants to bring home. Back home I paid some bills online and prepared for tomorrow’s dreaded welfare hearing. My arms are quite bruised from the injections for yesterday’s blood tests. Arthur Chappell

Oddly I also had severe bruising on my right arm due to a blood test last week, which was a first for me.

@arthurchappell As a blood donor I sometimes have bruising on the left arm, but never the right.

Glad to hear your money came in okay Arthur. It is vital isn't it? Sorry to know of your bruises as well. A new supermarket ..nice..hope it is close enough for you and fair prices though I know everything is mad expensive to live. That was quite a scare then with the bank site maintenance..what a time they chose to do it right when you were checking your balance the sods lol

I've occasionally been badly bruised after a blood test, but not often. I hope the results are good. Good luck with the welfare hearing.

I never trust that cash machines will be a) working or b) full of money, so I always get money out of them the night before! What new supermarket? Aldi? No, Lidl? Oooh, Waitrose? It can't be a Tesco ... we have a brand-spanking new Tesco in our neck of the woods. It's been sitting empty, never been used, all pure and virginal, for about three years!!

That's always unnerving when you don't know where your deposit is.
