I burned my foot making hush puppies.

Yeah you read that right. A little while ago while I was making hush puppies to go along with dinner I burned myself.
I had dropped the batter into the deep fryer and was scooping the already golden brown and done ones out to put them on the plate with paper towels to soak up the extra grease. Well when I scooped one out, I slung a drop of grease out of the pan and onto my foot.
I said some not so PG words and cried out in pain. A few mintues later I peeled my sock back and looked at where the grease hit. It for sure hit, and it's a pretty big burn mark.
Boo. Hot oil-1, April-0.

@CoralLevang Yikes! I'm not sure if I've ever had a steam burn (knock wood!), but I've burned myself with hot grease lots of times. Never had a burn bad enough to put me in bed though!

i don't know what a hush puppy is, but yes, i've had hot oil jump from the pan and land on my foot while frying fish. it was only a small drop but it still hurt!

I've done that while doing homemade fries and fried dough. Hurts!
