California Single Payer Health Plan

In California, many people can't afford to pay their health fee costs for expenses not covered in their plan or in some cases don't have any coverage at all now. What do you think of coverage for all with a cost of $400 Billion just for the state of California? My understanding the costs now are around $370 Billion for this state and this is an estimate, as every article I have read doesn't seem to agree with costs today. The breakdown $200 Billion by Government and the rest by employers and the numbers for employers are different depending on who you ask. I don't know exactly how much is paid by each of us with out of pocket expenses like me, as every time I need dental or eye care it has been expensive, as members that have read my eye glass discussion are aware already. Now I know your wondering where will the money come from to pay what could be an increase, as the price could come down with people going in for care right away. I'm not thrilled with a sales tax increase and that is being discussed; however, I would spend less on sales tax, then I'm paying for visiting the dentist and eye doctor now. What do you think of the plan that just passed in the Senate? Is there a better way to provide health care for everyone?

As it stands now, I don't qualify for either Obamacare or MediCal and I rather doubt this new idea would be any different. I am proof these systems were false in proclaiming help for all. How are we to know this money raised from wherever does not end up as $16 muffins for government workers' conferences as exposed several years ago?

I agree we don't know where the increase in sales tax will be spent. The plans in place now don't cover everyone, so would this plan really cover everyone is the question. I'm not sure how to cover everyone, as there are a lot of people in this state. Several of my friends think the richest people will buy their expensive items like cars in a different state to avoid this hike in sales tax. Also some people and businesses certainly would consider moving out of expensive California to a lower cost state.

@Fishmomma Very true points. California taxes has chased most of the corporations out of the state thus we have the highest unemployment rate.

I think the Government's health plan clearly shows that the medical and hygienic. If the people are really healthy getting good quality food and other things etc where is the need for spending such huge amounts on Health plans? Think about it.

I have thought a lot about the problem, as people have posted on Mylot that they don't have insurance and others have to pay so much for insurance that they can't pay all their bills. Many people don't qualify for the Government Plan. Right now, 370 Billion is already being paid and not everyone has coverage, so there is a problem; however, not sure 400 Billion is really going to cover everyone in this state.
