More Music - The Very Good and the Completely Horrid!

Music followed me into Sunday, and it began on a great note. This morning, I saw an interview with Roger Waters, one of the geniuses behind Pink Floyd. As with so many of the greats I came to know and love during my lifetime, Roger Waters may be up in years but he's not done touring just yet. I could sit and listen to him speak about music and his band mates for hours. He's not someone you see being interviewed much at all, and the music surrounding him has not only entertained me for more years than I can count at this point, but the music has intrigued me for all these years, too. So that was a nice beginning to my day. The ending notes were not so nice, however. A movie came my way this weekend and I thought I'd watch it tonight, since I had nothing else to keep my mind occupied. I watched "Ricki and the Flash", with Meryl Streep, Rick Springfield (be still my heart), and Meryl's daughter, Mamie Gummer. I have to admit that my draw to this movie was more Rick Springfield than Meryl Streep. I saw her in Mamma Mia and that was more than enough of her singing for me. But while some of the songs they chose were great, their renditions were less than stellar and the story of the movie was boring for me. I didn't care about any of these people and their problems. I was really glad when it was over. But that's just me. I'm sure there are people who love this movie. I think I heard so much great music this weekend that this movie just didn't have a chance with me. So that's the end of my weekend. Not quite sure what this week will bring my way but I hope there's something good in it. And for all of you, too! Claudia

I have not heard of that movie, I am a fan of Ricks as well and pink Floyd too. We do not get may movie channels but often have "freebie" weekend when our cable co lets us watch one. I think they hope we will decide we want that channel and subscribe but we never do.

Thanks for the heads up on the movie. I doubt I would ever watch it. I usually enjoy any movie with Meryl Streep, but there are a few that I won't waste my time on.

Some of these "music movies" shouldn't have plots, or try to have plots. Roger Waters was just in town for a concert.

I fully agree with you about "Mamma Mia", I loved the ABBA and their music, but not at all the rendition of those songs in this movie.

I saw Ricki and the Flash when it came out and it wasn't a favorite, but I enjoyed it.
