he did good

Saturday saw us tootling down the road to the little cathedral city so that Husband could join a fair few other Open University graduates, looking smug and proud in graduating robes.
He's done good.
He began when he was on dialysis, taking his books to read whilst hooked up to a machine. From that first essay with its shocking use of the English language - I did wear my teacher marking hat at the beginning - through dialysis, full-time job, transplant, loss of job and financial struggles, to that last painful and mandatory module which brought forth tears, an incompetent tutor, sleepless nights and a horrid exam ... he did good and I am immensely proud of him!
The cathedral, seeped as it is in one thousand years of history, was a beautiful setting for the swishing of robes as former students swept across the stage to receive their praise {we already have the certificate displayed in a frame at home!} to a round of applause from people they mostly didn't know.
A beautiful day, a beautiful graduation ceremony, and one very smiley Husband.
Of course, now that he has a 2.1 BA [honours] in Business Studies, he's caught me up. Not that it's a competition, but my thirst for knowledge and studious activities has been nudged ... it's time to search for that elusive Masters I have been sporadically wanting to do for a good few years. Best start saving my pennies, too!

My degree is in Religious Studies with Sociology {and a smattering of English} so I would want to expand on the religious aspect. Unfortunately the OU don't offer an MA in RS anymore, but I did find an intriguing MA course at Sheffield called Biblical Studies which I thought might be very interesting.

Endless support and cups of tea were important to reach the goal.
