What factors make you take a job?

When you're presented with a job opportunity, what factors go into your decision on whether to accept it or not? Of course money would be the #1 factor. You want a job that pays well or just gives you something to add to your income. Then of course, you have to think about the job itself. Would the tasks involved with it be easy or difficult for you. Would you be able to handle the environment you work in. Then the most important factor for looking for a job is whether you'd be happy with it or not. Even though the job sounds great and offers a lot, you need to ask yourself would you be happy doing this type of work. Or would you be sacrificing your happiness for a job you didn't like. What are some factor you take into consideration for a job.

I'm now a retired teacher. When I first applied for jobs, I had many offers from various principals. I chose to work for a male principal, because the females in those days had something to prove. I truly lucked out from what I heard. Money was the same. I had a long and successful career and was very happy.

@dramagirl26 I'm happy it's over. I was a special ed. teacher and had a huge caseload, taught general ed, and a special reading program all at the same time, not to mention meetings up to the top of my head. That Common Core Curriculum was not appropriate for special ed. students. 'Nuff said. I'm so happy I could retire when I did.

@DianneN It was great that you had a successful career as a teacher. Not many people can say the same.

Don't forget the distance. A job from a nearby company is better than having to work from another city, unless the job pays well for transportation fares.

@Tierkreisze I forgot about that. Sometimes people do have to commute to work.

@dramagirl26 Yep. And there's also job security. Some companies are known to not want to keep you permanently.

@Tierkreisze That's true! Plus, you never know if a company will close down.

When I looked for a job I considered first if I liked that kind of job, how close it was to my home, schedule and hours and salary.

Those are the things that I would also consider and also do I have transportation to the job, because I do not drive.

@Tampa_girl7 Transportation is another big issue for a job. You've got to have a way to get to and from work.

i matter most of the time, I don't want a job that tied me down or spent so much of my energy and time as I have other things to attend to that's why I prefer working online

@klynlyn I like working online too because it's flexible and I can multi-task with my other jobs.
