I read a lot, and had no idea that he has a son who is not that much younger than his oldest daughter. Did you know this? Then I read online that this piece The Onion wrote about Obama having a son is nothing more than satire. Some forms of satire really are funny. However, this is just wrong, and totally out of line. It is not about who I support (ed). It is about right and wrong. Back in the day nobody would write satire about something this serious that could be be thought of as true. This kind of subject is wrong...and now we have fake news. Don't people have enough responsibility on their hands without resorting to something like this?
CHARLOTTE, NC—The first family has turned more than a few heads at this week’s Democratic National Convention, where the president, as he greets delegates and waves to crowds of supporters, is often accompanied not only by his wife and two dau...

I had hear of The Onion before, and since it has been around for a very long time, I thought it must be true, but well-hidden. Then I found out that The Onion is known for satire. I had no idea. This kind of freedom of speech is taking it too far.

I have come up on a few stories that after checking were not true and that is very misleading.

Many times we are browsing online, and don't have time to intimately read an article, but we have read enough. This kind of thing does not add to our already broken society.

No, it is not. I think it should be against the law to write such stories about anyone if they are not true. They say it is satire.

@just4him No, it shouldn't be. If someone wants to write satire using fictional characters, fine. When you use real people, that is when you get into trouble. Freedom of speech must come with respect.

Things like this are just plain wrong and are a big reason why people shouldn't trust whatever they read on the internet.
There are a lot of sites out there that just plain make things up.
Personally when I'm interested in a fact or topic I find at least 3 trusted sources and that way I think I'll be more likely to get or be able to work out the truth.

@JolietJake There should be an indication that it is fake at the top of the first page.

I heard of it when I was younger, but don't remember reading it or getting acquainted with it.

@MsBooklover - I've been reading it since the early 1990's. They go after every president and, sometimes, vice presidents. They turned Biden into a rowdy party animal. Even he thought it was funny.
