Update my test report

biopsy

I got my bump test report today. I don't really understand the medical terms, but I think it is OK. I went to see the doctor in the afternoon and then I was required to have a FISH test. I googled what it is. I don't know why but I think this time this test is not so necessary. I started to doubt why the doctor kept saying words to worry me. I must say that his surgery skill is very good as my hand works properly after the surgery. And the surgery finished very soon. But I doubt his moral. Perhaps he just wants to get more income so that I needed this FISH test since it costs nearly the surgery charges I had last week? Of course the result will be almost 99.99% accurate after the FISH test. But my biopsy report also said that the bump might be nodular fasciitis. Further information will be advised to have the FISH test. If it is something like cancer, my bump will not grow so fast (within a few days). It just happened suddenly without any signs. It is just like after a bug bit you. In fact I told the doctor but he didn't even look at my Ultra sound scanning and then I just had the surgery last Friday afternoon when I met him at the first time. Perhaps he thinks he is experienced and has seen many different cases before. Anyway, this is my guess. I will get my FISH report next Wednesday afternoon and I will go to see another doctor after that. I hope that finally it will give me a peaceful comfort after that.

From what you write I think that you do not need additional tests, I would go to see another doctor.

This is what I thought. But in case of any possibilities, it is still OK to have the test anyway. Just cost more but confirm it at last. I just don't like the doctor said words to keep worrying me. When he had the surgery, he said that he saw the similar case like mine and that patient got a bad news. He didn't mean that I would get a bad news, too. And this is why I needed a biopsy. So right now perhaps you can understand why I can't help feeling worried. But after I read the biopsy report, I felt less worried even if I still had many medical terms I didn't understand. The doctor glanced at the report and still said it was not good. I didn't know why. He asked me to go to the pathological biopsy room for further test. This is why the one who did the test went out and talked to me. She listened to my description and she said it was nothing wrong. But anyway, we just had the FISH test to confirm it. I really don't like that doctor because he can worry me when he confirms my case. My case is likely to be the nodular fasciitis and it shall be a harmless bump, but many doctors mistake it as the harmful bump. The wrong diagnose rate is over 52%.

@LadyDuck You are right. I don't understand why that doctor kept saying words to worry me. Some patients can get worse because of unnecessary worries.

@youless Doctors should be there to keep the patients calm and not to worry them. What that doctor did is very wrong. I think that was a good idea to have the FISH test too, so you can sleep well again without worring.

No. Actually many doctors can tell you the reasons why we have some diseases as the reasons are unknown yet.

Yes I went and looked up all you have said here Youless and it appears to be harmless. I guess one point is let him do the test to make 100% sure but I know what you mean about gaining more income Still, it will be over soon, and then you can be free and clear of worry. I had a feeling it would be nothing more than that. So good to know now Youless that is is not malignant. Thank you for the update on it.

I checked the internet a lot. Sometimes when you have some health problems, you may become an expert after that. The nodular fasciitis is just like my case, according to the patients' ages, the bump sizes, feelings and how soon they grew up etc. And the nodular fasciitis is easy to diagnose to a serious bump (over 52%) because this case is still rare and not so common. The nodular fasciitis is a kind of harmless bump. In fact I mentioned it when I had the surgery. I told the doctor that I had this bump no more than 2 weeks and he just said I might not notice it. That's not possible as you know. It is my arm and I won't neglect it when there is a bump. But anyway, it is OK to have a surgery to remove it, although I also saw it can remain. Perhaps the doctor doesn't want to accept that he made a wrong diagnose? Answer will be known next Wednesday.

@youless Yes we must always question what the doctors are doing and also do our own research and notes to compare on what they are telling us. No harm in that Youless. I commend you for not just blindly believing everything they say.

I'm sure he's a good doctor since your hand is doing well after the surgery. Find out what it's for before you make any decisions regarding the FISH test.

A doctor always deals with it on the safe side. What strikes me is that doctors increasingly rely on the medical equipment.

Yes, the advanced machines make the doctors not able to judge the cases by themselves anymore.
