Losing my mind over the cat

Good morning everyone, I have a little issue I would like some advice about. I rescued a kitten almost 3 months ago that was around my apartment complex. I have already gotten her vaccinations and am ready to get her fixed. The problem: She is very destructive around my apartment. She chews up everything and anything, and she always tries to bite and pounce on me every chance she gets. I'm hoping she will calm down as she gets older and after I get her fixed. Do you think she will calm down or do you think this will be an ongoing thing???

Hello Brant, I have to say that I never had my own cat. But I don't think she stops doing it. Maybe if you find her some toy then she plays with that and she will calm down a little. I hope this will be something temporary, because it seems you like her

I have had cats my whole life, and had my fair share of "difficulties" Lol. But this little fur ball is very....how should I put it.... Persistent. I do love her and will stick it out but it's trying my patience...

Welcome to mylot. Yes she will calm down but not for awhile. Give her plenty of toys and play with her. Wear her out.

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping. I do feel like when she gets a little older she will start to calm a little. Meanwhile I play with her with her toys to try and tire he out a little. Lol, but I think it tires me out more than her..

That's kinda what kittens do. get her some toys to play with.. and maybe play with her with like one of those feathers on a stick or a laser light.. and get her to expend some energy and tire her out.. I think she is just bored and she is using you as her toy.. If she had another cat to play with they would be wrestling and biting.. she is just doing what comes naturally.

@djbrat13 yes, I have known kittens that do that.. have seen some run up the curtains and hang from them - I understand.

Yes, you are absolutely right. I do have many toys for you. I play with here often to keep her out of my curtains and stuff. But sadly, when I move in a few months my curtains won't be coming with me. She just ruined them.

Do you show her tenderness and try to pet her?

Maybe she isn't a typical domestic cat @djbrat13 maybe you can seek information from the local zoo to see if perhaps she is actually a wild cat. I've read that it can be easy to mistake wild kitties for domestic cats. Just don't let her outside though, she's not equipped to survive as a huntress without her natural mom to teach her. Just letting you know that I found out a lot of veterinarians have no clue about the differences between the wild species and domestic species.

@rebelann Oh wow, I haven't thought of that. She is a stray from a cat that has been living in my apartment complex for years. I'll definitely look into it more, thanks (((hugs)))

Yes I do, all the time. I usually can pet her when she is waking up from a nap or when she is really calm, but after a minute she just wants to start biting and being rough.

Having her fixed will help somewhat @djbrat13 . Chew toys and a scratching post. Training is important. When she goes for cords, spray her with a water bottle and tell her "NO!" I have 13 cats and the water bottle works.

Yeah, I find that spraying her with the water bottle helps a lot. I keep it within reach, and believe me, I'm using it a lot...

I have a kitten myself too. But she doesnt do what yours is doing.. Maybe your kitten is lonely, or she is teething(?) I was told once the cat is fixed, she will calm herself down. Hope your place will still be in one piece...

I hope my apartments makes it too Lol. She is a rescue from a stay cat in my apartments so I think that has a big factor in her wildness..
