I Ramble Too Much

In recent months, I've began to notice a trend in the way I write. I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but I have a tendency to ramble too much. By rambling I mean adding details that shouldn't be included or just going on to long about something. Reading over some of my previous posts, I think to myself "Do I really sound like this?" and "What do people think when they read this?" Noticing this peculiar quirk has me wondering if I sound like this in my other writing. I guess it may be time to pull out my previous work just to see. Do you have a tendency to ramble?

No, I haven't. I've always been precise and to the point. Because of this my classmates often asked me if they could copy my homework. They didn't need much time to do so.:-)

@dramagirl26 It would have been bad if I weren't. I was a teacher.

@Courtlynn I think I have a tendency to add too much detail and that's the reason I believe I ramble.

Aha! A kindred spirit. Lol! Rambling is my middle name. xD Just kidding... but no, not kidding. Hahaha. I ramble so much that sometimes I think it might be better to use roman numerals in my posts and responses (you know, I, II, III...) because I can go from one thing to another and another... and another.

@dramagirl26 Sometimes, it can't be helped. One thing leads to another.

@moirai Great to meet another rambler. I'm like you I have a habit of jumping from topic to topic.

@Shavkat That's the way it is with me. If I get to talking about a topic I like, the words pour out.

No, I always tend to go straight to the point, skipping the details that I judge not useful to the story.

@dramagirl26 Some details are pleasant to have a better understanding of the story.

@LadyDuck I usually add details that may not be necessary instead of getting to the point.

I haven't noticed any rambling from you. I could talk like a magpie. I have to try to shut up when writing on here. lol

@DianneN Once you get started writing, the words flow and it's hard to stop.

Self-awareness is the first step towards improvement. Whenever you notice that you start to ramble, cut your story short.
