What Do You Think?

For those of you that enjoy franchises, series, tv serials, etc. Say you have gotten into a show. You love the characters and the premise of the show. You watch it for several seasons. Then, suddenly, without notice the next season doesn't come. Shows over, all she wrote. But, do you feel that the writers and producers and televisions stations and every where else that has to do with the show have a responsibility to the audience, fans, and, those that make them rich basically, to end the story, bring it to a logical conclusion. Or, do they just keep the characters and storyline up in the air so you just never know? It is all written in a way that anything might happen? Do we as watcher just take a chance on it all coming to a sudden close? Is that how it works? But, does that make for a good show? And for good watching and bingeing?

I don't get hooked on too many shows, I'm more into HGTV, food network, lifetime movies.

I believe most shows that end do end with a logical conclusion I just had that with the last show I watched but now cant recall the name.

They do usually but the ones that don't are frustrating.

I've seen a couple come to good final ends. It's sad when it happens, but it was a good series while it was running.

It is such a disappointment when they do that. I believe they need to make a movie or a two hour special just to tie up all the loose ends. It is unbelievably frustrating when you become involved in a show just to be left up in the air.

Yes, and they used to do that on many of the shows. Very frustrating.

i think if they have to end it they have a responsibility to give it a good ending. Like Bones or Switched at birth ended. but sometimes they don't and we just have to take the chance. i still miss them after they end. lol.

I like it when a series goes for a long time and then comes to an end with a logical conclusion.

Perhaps that was meant to be @celticeagle They want to keep you in suspense and maybe want you to guess an appropriate ending.

When a show is really popular the audience usually knows a season or two in advance. Other shows...if they don't like the ratings, it's cut.

The ones that are cut don't know enough ahead of time.

Yes, I hate that. I started watching a show recently and after a few episodes I looked online and saw that t had been cancelled after the first season and it was left on a cliffhanger. I thought "what is the point of having wasted my time?" and I didn't bother watching anymore even though I was enjoying it. I actually don't mind cliffhangers or ambiguous endings but only if it s obvious that the story has been crafted to end like that and is not a ploy to keep viewers hooked until next time. I guess everything is about money and not the art of it all nowadays.

Very unfair! I mean we invest time in these things. All about money. That's for sure.

I hate this too. Why should they even start when they want to end it like this.
