Hooray the Mail Camel arrived - Barry will know what that means as he is under the impression (ha ha ha - in his own imaginative mind) that Camels are why mail takes so long to get to SA.
Luckily they are reliable and just yesterday, as my words were not even cold about how I have not had a postcard in a while, it arrived!
Valarie has not forsaken me and what I love the most, is that people are getting to know me so well, that they are aware of my LIKES and DISLIKES just like my family.
Does that mean I can call you all Family? - why not - you know me so well!
So from the Door County, i give you a fabulous postcard depicting the beautiful LIGHTHOUSES!
I spent the whole of yesterday afternoon reading about the fantastic lighthouses and here is just a little snippet of the History behind the Door County Lighthouses:
"Door County lighthouses, many of which were built in the 1800s, have saved countless lives as they guided ships to safety.
Today Door County’s 11 lighthouses remain must-see destinations for visitors and locals. With Door County’s rich maritime history, it is no mystery why these landmarks are of great importance."
"For lighthouse lovers, the Door County Maritime Museum Lighthouse Festival is a must-do, as it gives visitors a chance to view some of the county’s closed lighthouses as well."
The postcard reads as follows; "Lighthouses have a long and stored history in Door County. Their shining beacons-dutifully kept by courageous men and woman have provided safe passage for countless mariners and their vessels. Door County's (and Wisconsin's) earliest light station. Potawantomi Lighthouse, was first lit in 1837 on Lake Michigan's Rock Island. Soon after, commercial shipping boomed on the Great Lakes and many more lighthouses followed. ~ Darryl R Beers (photo)
There are over 150 Lighthouses among the Great Lakes which must be a wonderful Lighthouse tour to journey.
It seems this might just be a place I would LOVE to be .
I have a few friends (pen pals) in Michigan so maybe its not a bad idea to give traveling to the Lakes a thought.
Thank you Valarie @just4him - you have made my week! Thank YOU

Light houses are mystical and very interesting. Sadly many are now defunct or at best automated.
