I am watching CNBC and boy did my eyes get big this morning. I'm speechless to see what Amazon bought, as didn't think it would happen. Amazon bought Whole Foods and now we are likely to see prices come down at Whole Foods. I'm happy about that news.
The price 42 a share about 13.7 billion. I do feel for the other grocery stores. What do you think of this news?

Jeff Bezos continues to march toward world retail domination and eradication of all competition. It's not healthy for one company like Amazon to have its fingers and influence in every phase and corner of daily life.

I hope it doesn't mean stores closing when Amazon lowers the cost at Whole Foods. Sprouts has opened many stores in Southern California and think the store will be affected.

@JohnRoberts I am watching the stocks go down for every grocery store. I'm hoping we don't lose a store and unfortunately have lost several others. They will certainly lower produce prices here and go after the market. Clearly, Amazon knows it will work for them to make money or they wouldn't have bought Whole Foods.

@Fishmomma WalMart stock has already lowered with the announcement. This may only be the first of Amazon takeovers of retail outlets.

I'm sure I'll be visiting Whole Foods more often in the future. I will be printing more coupons, as was there last weekend and there are many signs about using coupons.

My area the stores are expensive, so felt that Amazon might make the prices go down here. Its hard to know exactly what affect Amazon will have right now.

Whole Foods is so expensive in my area and coupons are the only way I will shop there now. I do expect them to come down in my area with Sprouts moving into the area. People will be looking for sales.

I think this was a smart investment for Amazon! It is crazy, and I never saw it coming but it will open more for people to order groceries online and also more Amazon stores. It is so exciting.

I agree smart investment and am sure California will see changes to the stores. Groceries online and even think more stores will offer delivery of groceries. Stores will have to offer deals to get people into the store.

Just because Amazon bought them it doesn't mean there prices will get any better. And just like any store if you pay attention you can actually get some good deals at Whole Foods. Just like you can at trader joes.

That is true there are some deals. We will see in the future, if prices go down.
