Do all discussions have to be "perfect"?

This was spurred by @Hatley 's discussion about putting together a perfect discussion. That got me thinking discussions. Do they really all need to be perfect? And what's saying that what one person thinks is a perfectly constructed or thought out discussion is going to be what another person thinks is. Personally, I don't think there is any one perfect way to write a discussion. We all come from very different backgrounds, pasts, and lifestyles. We all have knowledge on very different things. We all like different things. I could write a long discussion on Doctor Who, and while I know a few myLotter's that would be able to interact on that discussion and talk to me about the episode, characters or whatever; I also know that there are plenty of my friends/followers/fellow myLotters that don't even know what Doctor Who is. So what I guess I am trying to say is, the "perfect" discussion is really having a lot of different types of discussions and be able to appeal to a wide variety of people.

The only people who be interested in the "perfect" discussion are those wanting to make posts with the highest earning potential. Good luck on that. They will go crazy trying. It's best to write what you feel like and not worry about how many people read and respond. Diversity of posts is a strength here.

I don't think I've seen that discussion of Hatley's yet. If she mentioned what she thinks is a perfect discussion for her, or if she posted about how to make a perfect discussion, or whatever... In any case, the trouble with 'perfect discussion' is that everyone will have a different idea of what it is. I mean, ten different people will most likely have ten different ideas of what is perfect to them. So, in a way, there probably is no "perfect" discussion. One that would appeal to a wide variety of people would be ideal, I guess. All we can do is do our best.

I thought @Hatley was referring to typos and grammar mistakes and not about the subject matter and perfectly constructed discussions.

You are right there cannot ever be anything that is the perfect discussion but we do have to keep in mind that if there are discussions that we wish to also share to social media then the discussions have to be well written, free of grammar mistakes and fully understandable. Perhaps those kind of discussions can be said to be nearly perfect. I share the discussions that I know might be of interest on social media but those discussions that are meant for my friends here on my Lot I do not share further.

I keep meaning to share my myLot posts, at least the more important ones on social media- but I never do- because I am forgetful, and a discussion like this would only make sense to other online writers.

I don't think this is the type of site where people are really looking for "perfect" discussions. Why bother writing a thesis? You aren't going to get all that many views for it.

I don't think there is a 'perfect' discussion. Each discussion is unique and these are good as is.

I think you are definitely on to something here! I agree. I do ltend to prefer discussions that are engaging / ask for opinions or questions but then again that may be personal preference!

I am not a perfect person and there is no right or wrong in making and giving opinions through discussions.

You might be able to write a "perfect" discussion but if no one reads it or the topic interest no one, what good is it? But that does not mean posting a discussion that is unintelligible because little effort was put into it.

I know my posts are far from perfect. Some may have grammar and spelling errors and at times it appears I may not make sense. But that's the best thing about MyLot, we can write about what we want and people don't care if it's perfect or not.

No. I just need them to have a meaning.
