Some Of The Best Singing In My Life

They used to tell us, "never will hear this out in the fleet." Marching, in the Marines call it drill. The Drill instructors would sing to us calling cadence. It was so pretty. A break for us both.
They get tired of being straight up jerks, as we get tired of being treated like crap. I respected the crap out of my DI's, such hard men, but when they took a moment and think there was only a handful in boot camp where they tried to be human. It was all you needed to know why they were doing what they were doing and why they were doing it in such a way.
The problem is when you learned that and they knew you learned that, they became harder. This is not how you march in the Marines, but apparently this DI saw purpose in it. Another thing I loved is the free reign they did give them if they used their power wisely.
Looking back, funny how they encouraged my love of punk rock. No better singing than this in the world of chaos.
This unique video features Marine Corp Recruits at MCRD San Diego. This presentation features high knee marching at its best by 3rd Phase Marine Recruits.

We all got sick of singing "Tiny Bubbles" really quick, though. Definitely helps make the march easier, though.

None of that there, always funny listening to Army ways and Marine ways, a different world. No tiny bubbles, jest eft ight and always funny Army always pointed that out. Not left, right Was in the National guard for a spell. Funny, say half were former Marines. When I was in anyway. It is fun thinking back on it.

@teamfreak16 No females on male side, one thing Marines are strict about and only branch to this day that still separates. In the fleet they mix, but do not remember that one. Also watching newer videos a couple of them march with the high knees. Not sure if that is something new or they made regulation now.

@crossbones27 - Did you guys have to sing "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon?" We had a female DI and apparently, that must have been her favorite song, because she made us sing it everytime she marched us.

Always is, makes the strongest grow faint. Nothing like it in the world and sometime wonder how I was able to coordinate movement through such hard men and women. Not an exaggeration of any kind, but does make you a better person if you do it right,

@Essjayd He kind of has no choice, his choice is now, once he is there they do not let you just quit. I have seen people act so crazy and all they do is put them in rehab so to speak. Then they end up having to do 20 weeks of boot camp instead of 12. This is a one shot deal, and you want it to be done as quick as possible. I struggled so hard, never wanted to go to rehab, but that was personal skills not acting crazy. You really have to bring everything you got.
Here is the kicker was one of the worse in my squad, but had a squad leader come up to me and say no one has more heart than you, except me. Clearly bias.
Nothing like it if you do it right.

Only if they let you be free at the same time. Funny how that works.

In a way, sometimes I wish could do it now because would be so much better than I was when I actually did it. So much more mature, but I guess that is why these things exist to make us grow up. ALL though, not sure if it worked on me. I am still 5 at heart. My dogs tell me this every day.

You are so right, there are things we appreciate more when we are a bit more mature. It's important to stay young in our heart.

@LadyDuck It is important to know who we are, something they never teach because they want us to be their puppets. I know people hate when I talk like that but kind of true.
