When rainy season comes many kinds of fishes tribe in the freshwater. Most are small kinds of fish which is no more than the size of fingers. One of this fish is the locally known tibek. I saw the vendor selling the fish but I didn't buy because my problem is where put this so it is still fresh until afternoon. The fish usually cook in vinegar with salt called pinaksiw. This also best to fry. Its tasty and because it got small spines and bones, you can enjoy this in lunch or dinner.

@ilocosboy and since these are fresh water fish, there is no problem getting diseases, like the red tide in seas. anyway, red tide affects the clams and not the fish, am i right?

I like this fish. At home, we cook this with coconut milk with hot chili and spices, so yummy. I no longer see them sold in our market. I keep on looking on this kind in the open market. It is safe to eat this kind.

Tibek is very rare in our place. I don't see them in the market. Few times I've spotted them and its always being sold out.
