The Meaning of 100 and 8000

I started late in the season, but my annual quest to ride my bike at least 1000 miles each year is off to a good start.
I'm doing short, 10 or 11 mile rides as I try to ride myself back into cyling shape. I did two rides today, for a total of 19 miles.
I am now ranked 1882 on Bikejournal.com. This is the fastest I've broken the 2000's. So far, in the month of June, when I started riding again, I have surpassed 100 miles. Just as important is my lifetime odometer, beginning when I joined bikejournal. I now have 8010 total miles.
Otherwise, the ride was uneventful.
Photo is of my first mountain bike, a Trek 930.

I did see a couple of deer the other day as I rode down the bike path. They were grazing right beside the path. Really cool.

@infatuatedbby - These deer are so used to people, they'll let you get close enough to take a picture or something, but not any closer than that.

I wonder if the heat wave in other parts of the country has something to do with others not riding as much...or if they're just forgetting to post....or if they've turned into couch potatoes.
Congratulations on both accomplishments!!

Could be. I've noticed that a lot of people don't like the hot weather as much as I do.

All I have now is that Trek Fuel Ex 7 from that other photo. My road bike is in my sister's basement.

I set the goal because it gives me something positive on which to focus.

I miss bike riding and will have to start saving money to get a new bike. Its great exercise and a fun way to see places that I haven't seen recently.

I agree. Those are two of the reasons that I ride as much as I do.

That's cool! Cycling is an interesting sports since you can see the views on the way. At present the sharing bike service has become very popular here and therefore I also ride a lot. Usually I go to work and go home by bike. It spends me about 17 minutes. In the weekend sometimes I will ride a very long distance because the riverside views are nice and relaxing.

Just keep plugging away. I like the ranking thing. That kind of incentive appeals.
