A pet is just a pet?

June 25, 2017 2:09pm CST
Today, while I was in at the supermarket row buying food for my dog, I heard a lady (I think she was about 60 years old) say that a pet is just that, just an animal and nothing more. I totally disagree, because my dog is a part of my family. How important are your pets to you? P.S: The good news is... The nonsense lady dosen't have any pets.

I love pets. You can train them and they stay trained. Can't say that about kids!

I agree my dogs are part of my family. To me, cleaning up after them, training them, feeding them taking them to the vets etc makes them more than just a pet.

My Misty was not my pet, she was my friend and a special one at a time of sorrow.

Pets are always happy to see you, they depend on you and you can depend on them, pets offer you comfort when you need it, are funny sometimes, pets are entertainers, pets will always be your friend. That's all I got. Guess their part of the family. Your posts are interesting, keep em' coming!

Aw, my pets are part of the family. I buy food, shampoo, soap and toys for them- so, they're not just a pet. I bet the lady doesn't like or own a pet

Doesn't surprise me that she does not have pets. Those are the people that do not understand how important our animals are to us. My cat is my family. If someone invites me that do not live closeby I tell them I have to bring my cat and they do not understand that.

I have to disagree with her as well because my pets are a part of my family as well. They get treated better than we did as kids. She sounds like someone who has either never had pets or since she is so old lives in a time/generation where dogs and cats were used for farm work or hunting and not as pets.
