Pinesaurus Pineum - On the Loose -
As many of my friends here on the Mill Otter (MyLotter) website already know, it is my habit to jump aboard the little electric mobility scooter and roam around on the trails and byways of this, the "Grand Oaks" development - seeing whatever wants to show itself and avoiding such things as hungry dogs, stinging insects, and tax collectors.
Yesterday was hotter than might occur to anyone's imagination, hot enough to awaken the dead and gone. Nothing terribly unusual about that I suppose, but a person learns to keep a sharp eye out for untoward events and dangerous critters whenever the weather gets into the extreme.
So it was that when I was cruising along the trail through the piney forest, I spotted a critter from the past that had pulled itself up and out of the ground .
Scared the daylights out of me, and it was yet only 1 pm on an otherwise ordinary Friday afternoon.
From way back in the eons - a gazillion years or so ago - there it was ...
A fierce-looking, crinkly-skinned Pinesaurus Pineum - ready to attack me unless I poured on the battery power and got my little scooter moving out of there in one great big hurry.
Gotta stay awake out here in the countryside. You just never know what is going to pop up next.

@JohnRoberts - Brother John - Illusion ? Shoot - it was the real thing - right there next to the trail. Crinkly skin. Tyranosaurus legs (a matched pair of legs at that) and a great long tail at the opposite end of that fierce-looking jaw. No way did I want to have that critter come after me. Down throttle and full speed away from that illusion. -Gus-

You really lucked out there. That looks like a baby pinesaurus, and where there's babies, there's protective parents...
