Holiday Weekend Barbecue - This weekend is featuring several things: 1. My first time barbecuing again since moving out here to the countryside... 2. "Independence Day," (July 4th) coming along on Tuesday, next... 3. Wedding Anniversary day to be here, also on "Independence Day" on Tuesday. This one is Number Sixty-Four (entering the 65th year of being married to my bride-boss. ) I went over to the nearby super-store and got us a big hunk of BBQ meat, a large sack of charcoal chunks and a bunch of mesquite tree wood for some good BBQ smoke. Onto the grill went the meat and up came the great mesquite tree wood smoke. Right now it is getting closer and closer to the fourth hour being cooked and smoked - and, from the look of things, this is a successful barbecue. Just in case I missed my mark of ordinary barbecue perfection, I bought some gum drop candy while I was at the big store. The great-grandchildren will forgive me any lapses in the meat-cooking if I can bribe them into continual good behavior with the gumdrops. Image: Sunday Barbecue on the Charcoal Grill - Gus Kilthau

@andriaperry - And it is to be hoped for that whatever you cook tastes a lot better than that which you do not cook. -Gus-

Ms Marilyn - Unfortunately, my BBQ techniques lacked a whole lot of savvy, The BBQ tasted good, but I should have wrapped the cooking meat in foil following its initial hour or two on the grill. I came out a wee bit overgrilled - but it was mighty tasty even so. -Gus-
