They just stood and watched what was happening.

It was last Friday when a fight happened between one Grade 10 student and 10 other teenagers with the leadership of a Grade 8 student. The Grade 10 student was mobbed after school. If not because of the old woman who threw water to them, the Grade 10 student would be severely wounded. There were barangay peace and security officers but they just watched as if they were in front of a big screen. They said the problems were not for them to solve. But the fighting happened outside the school. Meaning, the school has no responsibility anymore once the classes are already over and those students are on their way home. It seems that these hired barangay peace and security officers don't know what their real duties are.

@vsai2008 Same here. If they cannot do their job, then they are just wasting the money of the people.

@vsai2008 Yes, this day we called the parents of those students involved. Unfortunately, the parents of the student who initiated the violence did not show up.

They are technically right. Once off school property, its not their responsibility. BUT as human beings, they should have stopped it. Even if just by calling the police.

@Courtlynn I agree with you. They should do something to help. The old woman was better because she did something to stop the fighting.

It should be anyone's job to break up a fight if they are able to. Who would want children getting hurt? Terrible. =(

It is really surprising how people can be silent spectators, the most ridiculous part being that 'it's not their job' !

@aishanee I am thinking one of the reasons might be they are afraid to get hurt? But I think it should not be a reason since they are hired as peace and security officers.

@just4him That's true. I think it is because our government put so much favor on the kids that older people don't know anymore how to discipline them.

that is bad. and to think that our president is having that fist-out as his signature campaign, and yet, crimes, even petty crimes, are on the rise. i don't know if we should be scared of DU30 and his law, but i wonder why crimes and EJK's are more rampant now. even bullying is so frequent in almost any place here in our country. those TANODS' responsibility should have started because the fight was already outside the school premises. isn't that part of their job? hmph!

@ridingbet Based from what other students told us, yes. They belong to a fraternity.

@ridingbet Yes, it is a part of their job. But it seems that they are not capable to stop those fights. Just this day, again, there were many teenagers waiting for others students outside. Having seen that, we decided to call the Barangay Office and also the Police Stations for assistance. I guess we need to do it everyday to stop those gangsters.

@annierose are these kids members of a fraternity? it seems the youth of today are so unruly and undisciplined; well, not all of them though.

Whether it happened during school hours or not they should of of helped as a human being defending another person. How would they feel if they were attacked and no one helped them? To me those security officers are gutless and very uncaring.

@velvet53 I feel the same way too. Last month, a thief entered our house. We reported it to the barangay officials in our community. We thought the security officers would be more vigilant but we were wrong. A week after that, a thief entered our house again. Luckily, he was not able to steal anything from us because all doors were locked. When we went inside we did not see any security officers. My mom stayed outside for hours checking if there will be security officers roaming around but there was none.

@annierose It sounds like those officers doesn't care about peoples safety. All they want is a paycheck. That is aweful!

That's really sad. Even if it did happen outside the school compound they could have done something out of civic consciousness.

@JESSY3236 Yes, I think so. Sad to say that too many teenagers nowadays do not know anymore the word "respect" for the elders. Some of them can hurt people older than them.
