Sagan, Cavendish Out of Tour de France

Defending World Champion Peter Sagan is out of the Tour de France after race officials determined that, a couple of stages ago, he caused a crash involving possibly the world's fastest sprinter, Mark Cavendish, who broke his shoulder in the fall.
The entire incident is sad, really. Sagan was going after a record-tying 6th Green points leader jersey, while Cavendish was out to break Eddy Merckx's record for most Tour stage wins.
I've attached a 39 second video of the wreck so that you can form your own opinion.
The loss of the two riders certainly opens the door for other sprinter's chances at Green.
While the Green Jersey is widely considered a sprinters jersey, it is actually based upon points earned during each stage. With Sagan's disqualification, Eric Zabel's record six Green Jersey wins is safe for another year.
This development gives the Tour an entirely different feel until the race hits the mountains.
Meanwhile, defending champion Chris Froome wears the race leader's Yellow Jersey.

It is too bad this happened. If an accident, we'd think it would be overlooked. Not sure if it seems to be his fault, even with the video.

Everyone is seeing it differently. Some are blaming Sagan, some are saying Cavendish leaned into Sagan first. Either way, it's not good for the Tour.

@FourWalls - Leaning, elbows, even the occasional head butt are common in bunch sprints, this time it just ended badly.

Especially not everyday, for 23 days, only two of which are rest days. Insane.
