1995 – Vertigo Books – Spoiler alerts Having barely survived their previous adventure, Jesse (Preacher) Custer, his girlfriend Tulip and the Irish vampire, Cassidy take some much needed R & R. Custer promptly falls out with his gun-toting explosion loving lover, after he rashly tried to prevent her getting involved in the shooting the last fight with the villain resulted in. She resents missing all the fun. Cassidy naively and treacherously tries to get Tulip to be his lover instead only to realize that Tulip still loves Custer. The relationship struggle is interrupted by the arrival of an assassin who previously ended up with his face blown apart and left looking like a naked human bottom, thus his nickname that can’t be repeated here. When his efforts to be menacing provoke so much laughter the heroes take pity on him and help him become a rock star. They then try to get a voodoo cult leader to give them clues as to where to find God (Preacher is on a mission to find out why God has abandoned his creation). The spells prove useless and the heroes end up in a major shootout with Goths who want Cassidy to make them into vampires. He ends up temporarily decapitated in the struggle but Tulip gets to do some serious shooting and feels happier for it. This episode is about the frustration of the mission going nowhere but in many ways that is the problem with the episode itself. It finishes no closer to a resolution than things stood at in the previous book. Cassidy’s betrayal and the fate of the most pitiful assassin ever are great touches but overall this chapter of the saga really just treads water. Arthur Chappell

Oh goodness, this sounds to be a complicated story and I cannot imagine the look of the assassin with his face blown apart. This is an interesting review Arthur.

@arthurchappell It's a weird story but it is interesting. I wonder if the guy with a bum shaped face will get them in the end.

We've been watching this on Amazon. Have you seen it? We love it. I don't know how close it is to the graphic novels, but it is brilliant. :)
