Rafael Nadal moved into the 4th round with a straights set victory over his Russian opponent Karen Khachanov, 6-1, 6-4, 7-6. The Spainard look very sharp and in excellent form, even turning back a challenge from Khachanov in the third set tiebreaker. I believe if he can continue playing this way he has an excellent chance to reach the semi-finals. On the Women's side Venus Williams of the U.S, at age 37, continues to play well taking out her Japanese opponent 20 year-old Naomi Osaka. She won in straight sets 7-6, 6-4. Venus has a favorable draw and she plays well on grass. Don't count her out. Just a follow up on American Bethanie Mattek-Sands who was forced to retire due to injury during the tiebreaker of the 3rd set yesterday. The injury is very serious as her knee buckled as she went after a drop shot from her opponent. Mattek-Sands crumpled to the court and it appears to be a gruesome knee injury. She had to be removed on a stretcher. Terrible break for her as she and her partner, Lucie Safarova, were attempting to hold all four doubles grand slam titles at the same time. Wishing Mattek-Sands a speedy recovery, she is very popular with the players. Source: ESPN

Yes, Nadal looks great. Hope he keeps it up! Bethanie tore her patella tendon and dislocated her knee. Horrible injury Yes, the Women's are wide open. Venus faces a tough match against the British woman Konta. Kerber from Germany won but did not look good.

isn't it that Serena is pregnant that is why she is out?

Without Serena, the door is open for Venus to take the title.
