Do you prefer to comment or discuss a topic at Mylot?

I had realized that at Mylot, you could either spend most of your time commenting on other writers' discussion posts or you could write up a new discussion and post it online.
The differences are quite huge for me. When I comment on other's posts, I do receive responses which load up my notifications quickly. Normally, I comment on 40-50 posts daily.
However when I write 2-3 new discussions, I receive only a handful of response which is quite disappointing. I guess my posts do not generate good traffic due to the contents.
Oh, I might as well spend more of my time commenting from now on.
What about you?

That's how I feel as well. Sometime I will go for days without starting a new discussion.

Thanks very much for your comments. I can see why some people do not write discussion that often.

@peachpurple That would tend to vary somewhat. I suspect that one or two posts per day would be sufficient, along with interacting with other members' posts.

@peachpurple I do more commenting in discussions while teaching online. I can reach more or less 100 per day. It kills me sometimes in teaching. That's the reason why I need to balance it by mylotting.

OIC, thanks for your comments. I create 2-3 discussion daily but now, I think I should cut down and comment more. How many posts do you comment per day? 50-100??

I'm OK either way – commenting or posting a discussion. MyLot is a great place for publishing my random thoughts. I might come back to a discussion and see a potential to expand it into a full blown blog post for my other blogs. None of my activity here is ever wasted. That's why I like this site.

I will go days without starting a new discussion. I spend a lot of time reading and commenting on discussions started by other Mylotters.

I usually do 2-3 a day, if possible and I read and comment AND like a lot. I think the more you are on here the more people get to know you and will read your discussions more.

If you churn out multiple (a large number of discussions in a few minutes) I will likely only read and comment on one of them. One good discussion and a lot of interaction with other Mylotters seems more entertaining and productive.

I haven't been here for a long time, was going thru some things and found the site written down and signed in and then remembered what it was. Anyways I comment more then make a discussion, I lead a pretty boring life the way I see it. I might start making topics thou as I get used to the site again. Then again everyones posts seem more interesting...

I would suggest that you have a mix. This discussion has garnered many responses. Most unpredictable, really.

My posted discussions are a tiny percentage of my activity here.

I've got enough discussions that sadly have very little comments on them. I hate when that happens, especially if I was looking forward to people's comments on whatever it was that I had posted.
I try to comment on many discussions when I log in here, but I don't think I've ever done as many as you on a given day.

I prefer both but I guess commenting helps us earn more than posting discussions coz posting a discussion doesn't guarantee us of more mylotters commenting on it.
