We Visit Petit Paris

One of the sites we visited in France recently was Petit Paris which is situated just out of Negrepellisse. The owner didn’t speak much English but I gather some of the display was once in Marseilles but had been abandoned for ten years before he bought it and moved the whole thing to its present site. He has also added a lot more models both of particular buildings and of other French landmarks and heritage sites. I liked all the little ‘trees’ pruned into square shapes.

That is a fabulously detailed scale model far better than a similar (not Paris) scale model I saw in the Netherlands.

I don't think this is to scale either. And the boats aren't to scale either but it was still interesting.

It is a really wonderful miniature Paris! I think it was hard to miniaturize those buildings in a certain proportion .

And this guy said he'd never been to Paris so it might have been quite difficult for him.

I hadn't heard of this before, so interesting to read. No doubt even more interesting for you to read. You are having such a great trip! You'll e able to write a travel book on your return

@JudyEv I'm in the midst of reading Bill Bryson's 'Down Under'. Have you ever read it. He visits so many obscure places that most Australians would never visit!

I suppose I could write a book but I'd have nothing to put about all the 'big' towns and cities.

@valmnz I've never read any of his books but I really should as I know he has a great reputation.

We have been through a great number of small villages but haven't bothered about visiting the larger cities. It is too difficult to find somewhere to park with the motor-home.

Yes, it is small and you have to be careful where you put your feet.

He also had a 'Lourdes' museum with copies of some of the famous paintings that he had done himself. You had to give him credit for all the effort he'd put in.

There are various model towns around but I've only ever seen a couple.

We've seen miniature villages in several countries that we've been to. Some are more 'to scale' than others but they all must take many hours of painstaking work.
