Another job rejection!

Gah I am feeling down in the dumps today. I left my headphones at the gym along with my music blackberry (yes, I still have this 12 year old phone - but its loaded with my favorite workout tunes!) And then came home to find a nicely worded rejection email from this job I was super interested in waiting in my inbox. I feel these things are an omen. Hopefully the day improves rather than spirals down. Ha. I am tired of getting the rejections honestly. I am lucky to have the job that I do, but I have been applying for other jobs in this organization for the last 2 years. Ive had only two interviews out of the many Ive applied for. And many I am overqualified for! (I am not trying to sound full of myself, but it is true). I am just bummed. Are you having this trouble too with the job hunt? Any words of wisdom are seriously appreciated :)

Apart from saying keep your chin up no words of wisdom here. So sorry Maezee..this is a bummer for sure. I hope you will get some job that you will be happy in. I was once over qualified to wash dishes and I needed the job so badly at the time..can you beat that? That was exactly what they said to me too..you are overqualified..ef you.

Thats terrible. I am so sorry to hear that. How awful of employers. When you need a job you need a job! I am counting my blessings for having a paycheck rolling in every 2 weeks luckily. I just dont want to do my current job forever. Thanks for all your wishes - youre always so supportive and nice :)

I´m retired now. But at the end of my working time, I had problems because I was overqualified.

I am sorry to hear that. I personally hate the new job market. They make everything sound like rocket science, whether it be a pretty simple job or not. I was reading a pretty interesting article a while back about how the job market is backwards. Why anyone applies for them other than money which most do not say is beyond me. Make them sound so miserable and the article was basically saying they should be selling the jobs like they do a commercial product where people will want to buy them. Corporations, bottom line, have to much power. They invest virtually nothing and wonder why they can never find decent help. What ever happened to training your employees yourself because then people appreciate crap. Now it is so disconnected and money driven, people only see these jobs from a material point of view. Not about improving their community and providing a service that is needed for their neighbors. Not to mention improving one's own life and the corporation at the same time.

I've gone through several rejections before I get my present job. In our country, it is really difficult to get a job in the government but giving up is not in my vocabulary. So I tried a lot of offices and finally, get the job. I had this mindset before, I will never get tired of applying for work until they get tired of rejecting me.

The boyfriend just had two job rejections this week within the same organization, and like you he is more qualified than most of the other applicants and he's been trying to make the switch in his career path for the past 10 years! It is really bumming, but he just keeps trying. Of course having a good support system will help. While waiting for another opportunity or that much awaited "break", he is working on his certification to add to his credentials. Whether it helps with the job hunting or not, at least his time in between will not be idle. I suggest you also find some hobby that could also translate to self improvement which could potentially help boost your resume. And like I said, helps keep you busy and keeps your mind off the negativity of not being selected. I wish the two of you good luck in your endeavors!

I'm sorry that you got that rejection letter. I am not seeking another job so I have no words of wisdom for you. I am going to stay in my job until I retire in 15 years. I have job security, guaranteed raises every year, and excellent benefits. No reason to go anywhere else, especially when I'd lose my tenure.
