Significant birthday in the family

My firstborn turned 30 yesterday. He's been on his own since age 19. He's grown up a lot since then. He has a lovely partner, a new baby and a good job! But there is just something significant about his 30th birthday. At least to me. I've been a bit emotional about it. I'm really proud of him and I feel grateful that we have a good relationship. We went through some of the typical (but difficult) struggles of his rebellious years, ups and downs, etc. But- as I mentioned in a recent post, I think those difficult times helped to mature him. He is already starting to understand that too. Yes, it seems to me that my son transitioning from the twenties into the thirties is like him going from "young adult" into "adult". Does anyone else understand what I mean?

Yes, my son is about the same age. He still seems fairly adolscent though. I wish he would settle down with a compatabile partner. He does have a great job though, so that is a blessing.

I think that having a child matured my son a bit more. The baby is 7 months old. I know that all people are different and have to grow up (so to speak) in their own way and at their own pace. As a parent, I had trouble letting go at times. Thanks much for your comment @snowy22315.

A belated Happy Birthday to your son @BloggerDi . I don't have children, but once I hit my 30's I know that I started viewing life differently.

Thanks for your comment @bluesa. I'm glad you understood where I was coming from about the change that often happens after age 30.

My oldest son will turn 30 in September so I understand what you mean. He's been through a lot, too, and thankfully learned some hard lessons instead of repeating them. I'm very proud of him! 30 seems to be the no-turning-back point where a mother realizes her son is a man, no longer her little boy. 30 is the point of no return! But they will still be our babies and when we think of them we will first see that adorable, innocent little face looking up at us with that angelic smile before we picture the man, won't we?

Oh I can tell by your comment that you really understand, and thanks @dragon54u! Yes, of course he's still my baby boy in many ways.

Aw, happy birthday to your son! =) In your 20's your still kind of trying to figure out where to go and what to do in this world in a way. Once you hit 30 you understand more what direction to go and you settle down more.

Yes, I do understand. You're lucky he's maturing at 30, it took me longer for some reason, but now I'm a senior citizen and still fairly immature
