Deer's Best Friend

We all know the saying, "A dog is a man's best friend". Well in this case, the dog was a deer's best friend and savior. While walking his dogs along the beach on Long Island Sound, one of the dogs (Storm) saw a baby deer in the water and jumped in to save it.
He brought it ashore and was nudging it (apparently to make sure it was breathing). When the owner Mark Freeley and the other dog approached, the deer got scared and ran back into the water. A rescue team had to be called in to save the deer again because this time it had swam further out.
The deer is fine and as for the English Golden Retriever Storm who did the original rescue? What a good boy!
Storm the golden retriever carried the fawn to shore, then "laid down next to it, and started nudging it and pawing it."

Good thing it was a Retriever (water dog), otherwise who knows if the deer would have made it @just4him .
