Just a MyLot idea

So I have an idea that @GoAskAlice might have to think about which would help some new members and current. Instead of banning accounts when rules are not followed right, I would think a 24 hour suspension and reason for suspension from posting on MyLot. That way if your account gets deleted and you don't know why, you will get a pop up that says something about a 24 hours suspension from posting on MyLot and a message of the reason. And maybe the post itself come down too. What do you think? Just an idea....

That would need a lot more work from administration.

It is everyone's responsibility to have read and understood the Terms and the rules of the site and there is a check box on sign up which everyone has to check to acknowledge that they accept the Terms and Conditions (whether they have actually read them or not).
Admin does not automatically ban accounts for violations though there are certain things like blatant 'spamming' which get banned instantly. It has always been the case that the deletion of a discussion should serve as a warning. The Guidelines and the Frequently Asked Questions are clear enough, if read carefully, and if there is still any question about why a discussion was removed, the appropriate thing to do is to send a PM to Admin (as stated in the Frequently Asked Questions).
There used to be a function which sent out an email when a discussion was deleted giving a brief reason for the deletion but it ceased to work and I understand that, because it was often ignored or misunderstood, it wasn't considered worthwhile to repair it.

If its a new rule, then 24 hour suspension sounds like a good idea. I think newbies should get the 24 hour suspension when they break rules, as it can be hard to not make a mistake when your new. When I was new I made a big error and received a warning, so mistakes can happen.

I have been in the process of developing a policy along these lines, but I haven't asked if it was something that was technically possible yet. It will all depend on what would be required in the way of coding.

I would hope a private message is sent as a warning and not to do it again.... then if it continues then automatically ban.

@carebear29 I'd hope admin sends a private message before as a warning though

That's doable, but I think the guidelines are already clear about what sort of things can possibly result in a user being banned.
