This is such a sad story I had to share it.
Lauren Kavanaugh, "The Girl in the closet" has a very sad story to tell. From the time she was 2 years old until she was eight she was kept in a 9x4 closet. She was tortured and raped by her mother and her step father. This atrosity was finally reported by a neighbor and she was ........ from her prison. She know lives with a friend. She has nightmares, night terrors and can't live a normal life. She can't stand to have any stranger touch her and she can't be in a relationship because she doesn't trust people. She has tried to commit suicide more than thirty times. She can't live with the memory of her torture and the times her step dad, and his friends, raped her.
There five other children, the oldest of whom feels guilt for not being able to help her.
When she finally came out of the closet she was only 25 pounds and four feet tall. She had been starved and had scars all over her body.
It is amazing to me how two people could be so evil. They are both doing life for their part in this person's torture.
I feel anger and extreme sadness. This person is now a woman and has memories of her abuse that makes it very difficult for her live a normal and happy life.
One of the tragic parts of this story is that Lauren's mother had given her up for adoption when she was born. But she had changed her mind and a judge let her have the child back.

That's for sure. One more reason I believe in abortion.

@arthurchappell .....They had five other children. Why was this poor girl chosen to be treated like she was? I don't get it.

No. The others lived like normal. I'm sure they were neglected but they weren't in closets or anything.

its amazing how people can be so cruel to their own children and a judge lets them get away with it. too.

Those people were and are sick. There is no hope for them and they took a little girls life away from her. I hope they are suffering big time where they are. And if they aren't they will be answering to God soon and he will handle it.
Why out of all the children was she the only one? I hope the judge that let her keep that baby has nightmares from this. I know that he/she probably didn't know this would happen but I would of been questioning why she wanted to keep the child after she put her up for adoption.

@celticeagle I hate to say it but they deserve the same treatment that they gave her.

You must have watched the rerun on Dr. Phil....I watched it the first time that was hard enough. She will have issues the rest of her life. It's a wonder she hasn't harmed someone.

Yes, I did. I found it so sad that the second time around I had to share it. Unbelieveable what some people will do.
