After driving home I took a nap and headed for the Putt Putt course. I came in third, pushing my yearly winnings to a whopping $206. Then I shot a 22 in best ball and still lost....but consider that the man who beat me was the 1968 national champion and it's easy to understand. So here's the next song on my list of favorite songs that have popped up in commercials. #7: Without You - Harry Nilsson Another song for the "songs you didn't know were covers" list is this gem by the late, great Harry Nilsson. This was his biggest hit, going to #1 in several countries (including the US pop and "easy listening" charts) and winning him a Grammy award. And yes, it's a cover: it was originally written and performed by Badfinger, the band best-known for "Come and Get It" and "No Matter What" (and for making another hit, "Day After Day," sound like an Eric Clapton song). Thankfully, this song had an equally great commercial: a Heinz ketchup ad that featured a bunch of dachshunds dressed up like hot dogs (see what they did there? ) running toward people dressed up like bottles of ketchup. It ran initially during the 2016 Super Bowl and was definitely one of the highlights. So is this song.
