Is talc really that dangerous for the health?

When I was a kid, I always used baby powder all over my body to feel fresh, especially in the evening. It helped me sleep comfortably. Then when I became an adult, I read that powder contains talc and talc can clog up pores causing acne, blackheads and whiteheads. I avoided talc then. Recently, I read something that says only talc with asbestos can be dangerous to the health and not talc that is asbestos free. And talc is actually perfect for absorbing oils. I have very oily skin. But to be safe, I just use talc-free powders.

Good that you aren't allergic to it. Are they talc free?

@Hannihar If the packaging doesn't say talc free, it has talc.

i use the baby powder, like Johnson's, tender Care, Babyflo, and others. but when i cannot find any powder, i resorted to buying a big talcum powder, and this talc is so fragrant that is why my son dubs just a small part of this powder in the sponge.

I'm allergic to talc. Especially the scented ones. That's why I have been avoiding it. If you have read Anna's response here, a cancer was linked to that.

Nice to see you posting again my lovely twin sister! Heard about talc being bad for one's health but never read any scientific report supporting the claim.

They said there has been a study that it causes cancer. I have a personal experience of having clogged pores due to talc though. It's more of that that I have been avoiding talc.

Good thing you posted about this. I use talc for my face sometimes. My officemate also told me it's bad to use in the private area of ours. She used to do it but stopped when she read about it.

There's been a study that talc causes cancer, but then again it's talc with asbestos. However, how do we know if it has asbestos or not. So it's better to use powder that is talc-free.

You don't use makeup? The powder has talc except when it says talc free.

I think most men don't. Talc is very common even in makeup powders.

I haven't heard about it before. Perhaps we can try to use it less so that we won't take a risk.

I have avoided using it for many years already. There are a lot of talc-free powder like the one I'm using.

Things that are good at one time get bad at another. I remember when we coul not eat eggs or butter. Asbestos is, of course, dangerous. But normal talc does not have asbestos that I know of.

Yeah, but from the time cosmetic and baby powder have been created, they contained asbestos until it was banned in America. But how do we know if they contain asbestos or not? It's better to avoid it.

I didn't know this. Thanks for sharing. I don't use powder anymore. I tried but I can't have it in my system to do it consistently.

All talc is bad for you. It can also lead to an enlarged ovary.

But not most people know about that. Reading the comments of most members here, they are unaware of that at all. My son's paediatrician never recommended baby powder at all.
