Day 319 Proverbs 29:22 Proverbs 29:22 An angry man stirs up strife, and a furious man abounds in transgression. It doesn’t take much to cause a person to become angry. Just sit on hold waiting for customer service and the simple problem you called about, is at boiling point by the time the representative comes on the line. That’s a simple illustration, but there are many people who seem angry all the time, but anger by itself isn’t too bad. It’s what anger leads to that can lead to a crime and prison. Solomon showed there is a difference between anger and transgression. You can mollify anger, but transgression is punishable, oftentimes by death in Solomon’s day. For lesser transgressions, it would be restitution. As you look through the Law of Moses, the list of consequences for transgressions would make your head spin. Simple things we take for granted today was punishable by death or restitution. For example: Exodus 21:22 If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. 23 And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, 24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. (KJV) Transgression wasn’t tolerated. God knew his people were filled with anger and transgression and it was for that purpose he sent Jesus to take all transgression on himself, nailed to a cross, so everyone could enjoy eternal life. Isaiah 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (KJV) When Jesus submitted himself to God and the Roman authorities to be crucified on Calvary’s cross, the second to the last words of Jesus from the cross were It is finished, followed by, Father into thy hands I commit my spirit. As soon as he proclaimed It is finished, every sin ever committed, every transgression against another person was forgiven, and all those who accepted the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ, received salvation and eternal life. No longer are you bound by sin, but you can live in righteousness, by whose stripes you are healed. John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. (KJV) If you have accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord, your transgressions are forgiven. You are free to live for him as you look forward to his second coming and eternal life. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for sending Jesus to take my transgressions on himself, nailing them to the cross so I can have eternal life. Help me live for you, giving you my life and all the problems that cause anger and frustration into your hands. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. The words...It is finished....are very powerful words for me. Since God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are one....who are we to pray to?

@MsBooklover He's God too. I left him out before too, but I've been doing a lot better about including him in my prayer time.

Thank you for the message. I thought there's more to John 3:16 for my salvation - our salvation. John 1:12 says But to all who did receive him, he gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in his name, John 1:12 CSB

I like the KJV for that verse - power instead of right. Somehow it has my dynamo to it.

I am glad you were blessed by the study. Yes, all our troubles should be taken to the Lord in prayer. Which just happens to be my favorite hymn.
