For the exhausted parents

Each mother who stays at home with a child can relate to this discussion. Being a parent/mother is the most amazing job we can ask for. We are loved, we are cherished and we are needed. If you're a dad and you are a home maker, you may also relate. It is difficult to find a meaning in life besides being a mother when your mind is cluttered with cleaning, taking care of children and making your partner happy. What can we do as home makers to give us the feeling of more purpose? Start a home business, online surveys? Oh the many hours I spent online looking and searching for answers. Nothing I could relate and benefit from. I also suffer from
Crohn's disease and am unable to commit to employment like most average people. I have ups, I have downs. Some days I have to even fight to make sure my babies are taken care of. So what can we do? What can a parent do to achieve the feeling of contributing to a household besides cleaning and caring for the mini humans that are constantly destroying your hard work? What can you do as a sick parent to lift the burden off your hard working partner? I strive for a deeper meaning to my life but also question what could possibly be deeper then to raise and spend time with your favourite little people? When life gets hard and money is tight. Where do you turn?

I never felt like I didn't have a purpose until I got sick, I was always doing something to improve our life. Lots of survey places and such and actually brought about 150 a month into the house around taking care of 7 kids, the house and garden in the summer. Now that I have health problems and we have only our 8th child who is 10 years old at home, I'm finding it harder on some days to have the energy to do a lot. Other days I'm fine thou, never know what I'm going to get up to it seems. I homeschool too well kinda, pacyber she gets on line with her teacher once a week for 3 hours and the rest is on me so that takes a lot of energy there. However I came back here and I'm enjoying it. I also am redoing the house as we had a fire and lots was damaged. That is slow going as it takes a lot of money and energy. Anyways I'm also getting back into crafts. I used to sell and hope to get back into that. I'm basically stuck here all week so I need to figure out something more. I do think all the time there has to be more, just don't know what that more is.

Brave mama!
I'm sorry you lost so much but it sounds like your doing really positive things :) I wish I had the craftsmanship to do something like that. I can draw cartoons? Hahaha

@mamabear098 You never know what you can do til you put your hands and mind to it. Find something that interests you and give it a go =) I find that if I think more positive I actually feel better. Hope you feel better too.

The focus of our society is on the paycheck, unfortunately. I am looking at the other responses and I think that creativity may be the key. Find something you can do as an outlet, something you can make or produce. Not necessarily to sell but for the satisfaction of creating. Explore simple crafts with your kids. Your kids are your most important contribution at this time.

I do, we do crafts and go outside everyday. I'm constantly stimulating them with things as I am an Early Childhood Educator too. Guess because finances are so tight it's hard to feel like your going downhill financially because you can't contribute any other way then taking care of the kids. Although I wouldn't trade it for the world, doesn't pay the bills. This crazy world we live in, wish money wasn't the centre of everything

I work part time at my local library, my older kids take care of the youngest one who is now 4. When my oldest was much younger, I was a resident manager of a self storage facility. Might be an option in your neck of the woods, thats if there's anything like that left. Now when I'm not playing librarian, I am here on mylot, sell on etsy from time to time
