Friday night we went to the market to take a few things for the weekend. However, when we arrived, a group of guys was all standing in a circle around another guy beating on his girlfriend. They all had a beer in there hand and was encouraging this guy on.
In the car I sat there in shock. My boyfriend parked the car and jumped out. He ran over to the fight and pushed his way in. He grabbed the guy and turned him around. Afterwards, he punched the guy in the face. My boyfriend was yelling at this guy and he looked like he wanted to punch him again. He told the guy if he wanted to fight someone, fight him. He said that no man has the right to hit a woman.
Most of the guys standing in the circle ran when they saw my boyfriend coming. However, a few of them stayed to see what he was going to do. The owner of the market had already called the police and emergency services. They arrived and took the woman to the hospital. The guy was hauled away.
My boyfriend was raised here in Paea, Tahiti and everyone knows him. He has broken up more fights and stopped a lot from happening over the years. This wasn’t the first time he punched a guy for slapping around his girlfriend.
One time a couple was fighting on the road. The man was trying to grab there baby out of his wife’s arms. My boyfriend stopped him before he could push the woman and child into the road.
I’m not saying he is some sort of hero or anything like that. He stands up for what he believes in and isn’t afraid to fight for what he knows is wrong.
What would you do if you saw a guy beating on his wife or girlfriend?

That is excellent. That is what more people should do. Those men who were watching and letting that go on should be arrested too or something done to them. They need a big wake up call. That is disgraceful.

@poehere .....I certainly understand. I hope that woman realizes how lucky she was. What if your boyfriend hadn't come upon this scene? Fate is a wonderous thing that is for sure.

@celticeagle I think that some of the customers of the store already complained to the owner. He had already called the police. I am also glad that we arrived when we did. I think that guy deserved what my boyfriend did to him. He got off easy with a black eye.

I can tell you what I would not do. I would not stand around encouraging someone to beat a woman up. But as far as jumping into the fight–I would probably get the crap beat out of me. I would call the police though. I'm having a hard time believing a group of men would stand around and encourage someone to beat a woman up–even if they were drunk. When there is a group of men around when someone is beating up a woman, a good many will jump in and stop it.

@RichardMeister Yes, this one was very stupid to do. However, it is happening more and more around the islands.
