Error when trying to Post with a Photo

I have been trying to post a discussion with a photo. I took the photo myself so there are no copyright issues with it. I get an application and runtime error. The post goes through, but the photo is missing. Am I the only one having a problem with this?

Perhaps the file size is too big, try editing it then crop of unecessary details, hope it helps.

Oh yeah, now I remember the problem I had before. When you take photos with the same phone, why are some too big and some are okay? I am not understanding the technical side of this.

@akalinus wait do you take the photo and post directly from your phone or do you take a photo and transfer it to some other device like a desktop pc?

@akalinus it has got to do with how the picture is compressed like if it's a jpeg, giff etc..pictures are made up of pixels so the more colors the picture has the higher the pix even if it was taken with the same camera, I'm not talking about the size of the image or the picture but the file size that determines if it would upload. One practice I do is save it on my device and edit it by cropping, or edit it and crop direct on my phone if Im using the phone to mylot. If you know how to crop a picture there is a greater and faster chance it would upload since the size had been reduced by removing unecessary details.

It is surely too big and this is the reason why it does not post.

Thanks, that seems to be the general consensus. I will make it smaller and try again when I come home from work today.

That is interesting. I am learning to wait longer on here.

It is funny how one photo will fit and another from the same phone won't.

I don't use MS office. Dreams still haunt me from a couple of computers ago of the time I used MS Office.

Use your photo editor and shrink the pixels. The photo is too large to upload here on the site. You can even use Windows paint to do this one. Reduce the image by 65 percent and it should upload.

@poehere My son has tried to teach me a number of times. He probably thinks I'm hopeless. I can manage my way around better though. You make it sound so easy.

Thanks, Ann. I never know what size to reduce it to.

@akalinus Microsoft Paint is simple to use. Load your image and you will see resize. When this opens just go to the first selection on the box and erase 100 and type in 65. Afterwards, go to save as and save this as a JPEG image. You can add resize to the end of the number so it will be easier for you to find.

This could be related to the size of the photograph, depending on the phone camera. Mt mobile takes photographs far too large for Mylot, so I edit them before submitting them.

Thanks, I think I do remember you. I just posted one the other day taken from the same phone and it went through with no problems. I am going to try to resize it.

@akalinus You should be able to check the image size anyway.

@Asylum Thanks but you can probably tell that I am not the best at things like this. I learn as I go along.

The maximum size of file which myLot will accept is 3MB and most cameras and some phones will produce a JPEG file larger than that by default. If you have uploaded photos before taken by the same device, your problem is more likely to be either a temporary problem with the myLot server (which would likely affect everyone) or the speed/reliability of your connection.

I seem to be the only one affected. I have uploaded three other photos from the same device in the last couple of weeks with no problem.

I did read your discussion about your visit to Tampa with your son. When I was going to respond that I was unable to see the photo, the post disappeared. As I did not post a discussion with a picture,I am not sure about that problem.

I had to delete because the discussion is worthless without the photo. The last photo I posted with my phone went through without a problem. Aren't the photos from your phone the same size?

Maybe the file is too large? or the format is unsupported? Have you contacted the admin?

I have contacted the administration. Of course, it was Friday afternoon, so don't expect to hear anything over the weekend.
