Pretty Purple Flowers

Pretty purple lacy flowers sing a cheerful song
They brighten up my country yard when summer days are long
Years ago I put them out in patches here and there
Now they bloom from spring til fall bright feathers in the air
From an old deserted house we passed on Acworth Lane
They called to me to take them up a princely sum I'm paid
Now when I see these pretty flowers I think of long ago
The woman who first planted them she cherished them I know
I would like to think and I do that where she is she knows
Her pretty flowers are now at home between hollyhock and mountain rose
I wrote this poem years ago when I lived in the country. When I pass I see these flowers are still blooming beautifully.
I look forward to reading your poetry.
